The appraisal of weathered and unweathered samples where colors had changed was until now only possible by human
vision. This subjective method often led to different appraisals from different observers and in turn became an expensive
exercise. Our software based solution PATTERN EXPERT chromoproof enables users to measure color differences according to
DIN standard 54001. Our software solution requires only a PC and scanner.
Description of the method
Appraisal of color differences between samples with different surface structure depends also on different gloss values. We
developed a trainable classification method for the automatic appraisal of color differences. This method uses color features as
described in standard DIN 6174 and also gloss values measured with different angles as described in standard DIN 67530.
The classification algorithms were trained with samples assessed by experienced observers.
PATTERN EXPERT chromoproof's second version is now on offer.
With this we can also develop solutions for other standards such as DIN 6167.
